The Wisconsin Trailblazers Sled Dog Club is committed to ensuring that animal welfare be treated as the highest priority of all members of the club as written in the bylaws of the organization. No act, large-scale or small, goes unnoticed or unattended to. Our organization has zero tolerance for neglect, animal cruelty, and death of any sled dog or other animal deemed to be of the doing of their owner and or any other musher or individual.
The recent report of a Wisconsin-based individual who has malnourished and left several dogs deceased both infuriates and saddens us. As a community of dog-powered sport lovers, we are here to support individuals and their canines in circumstances they are uncertain they can handle. We wish there would’ve been the opportunity to share our unwavering support and resources to this individual had they shared an indication they needed it. While we can not replace the time of the lives of those dogs deceased, we hope to share our commitment to providing resources to others, continuing to put animal welfare and safety first, and show support for getting the help needed in crisis situations before they become one.
We ask the community to please reach out via email or direct message if you have questions, concerns, or comments you would like to share with our organization. Though this individual is no longer a member of our club, he had been a part of our community in Wisconsin and beyond, and we want to ensure everyone knows we do not allow such heinous crimes committed to go unaddressed.
Respectfully - Wisconsin Trailblazers Sled Dog Club Board
